At Approximately 8:00 AM on Wednesday January 4, 2017, a train on the Nation's busiest commuter railroad crashed within Brooklyn's busiest Transit Hub. Approximately 100 Long Island railroad commuters were injured as the train entered the Atlantic Terminal.

According to the Metropolitan Transit Authority, which oversees the operation of the Long Island Railroad, it was the train operator's responsibility to bring it to a timely and safe stop. The investigation is unfolding and the findings arising out of interviews with the train operator have not been disclosed.

The Metropolitan Transit Authority also oversees the operation of Metro-North which is the country's second-busiest railroad. There have been two crashes resulting in fatalities in recent years on that commuter line.

With the safety of so many at stake, a thorough investigation must be conducted not only to determine the cause; but also to determine what safety improvements are required.

We must as a society invest in the safety of the public.

The Trial Attorneys at the Law Firm of Keogh Crispi, P.C. are committed to upholding the rights of the public to expect and to receive safe methods of Public Transportation
